Julie Koegler

Director of Finance

Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Julie moved to New Orleans in 2000 to attend Tulane University.  She studied at Tulane’s A.B. Freeman School of Business where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing and a Masters of Accounting.  Upon her graduation in 2005, she made an impromptu decision to move to New York City so she could experience big city life for a couple of years with the intention of moving back to New Orleans at some point down the road.  She ended up staying in NYC for 13 years.

In NYC, Julie worked for the global financial guarantee insurance company, Syncora Guarantee Inc.  She held multiple roles within the Finance and Accounting department performing general accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, and internal audit. During this time, she also earned her CPA certification.  Throughout Julie’s employment at Syncora, the company experienced extreme highs and lows beginning with an IPO and then later incurring devastating losses as a result of the 2007 financial crisis. This experience taught her the importance of flexibility, teamwork, and powering through challenging times.

In 2018, Julie moved back to New Orleans, this time with her husband, Mike, and their three daughters, Virginia, Margaret, and Adele.  She joined the FreeGulliver team in 2020 where she manages all internal accounting and reporting.  In her free time, Julie can be found with her family on playgrounds across the city or walking through Audubon Park.
